October 22nd 2004 - Sacred Vale announces first Hertiage Trail - the Sacred Vale Trail. On the 22nd of October, members of Sacred Vale, Heritage Action and Sacred Vale Tours opened a new 20 mile heritage trail in the Sacred Vale - the event was marked by the ceremonial delivery of a 5,000 year old axe to the Thornborough Henges - the first time such an event has happened in 5,000 years. The event was supported by a great many local community and business organisations, including the Council for British Archaeology, Ure River Research Group, Bedale Chamber of Trade and Tourism, Hackforth and Hornby C of E Primary School, Yorkshire Gardens Trust, local churches and many others. The route will be formally launched to the public in 2005. |
